Crochet Heart - Tutorial

Please find below my first tutorial!
I hope you like elongated hearts as much as I do.
This heart is really easy to crochet, it takes approx. 20 min. to make. And it can be a great gift for St.Valentine's!

Crochet Valentine Heart (elongated)
I am using 3.5 mm hook. The design is in US crochet terms.
It is a very simple and fast to make project.
All you need to know: slip stitch, single crochet, increase and decrease.
Please note: you will start each row with a slip stitch.

Row 1: Ch 4 (counts as 3 ch + 1 sl st)
Row 2: 3 sc in each chain across, turn (remember to insert the hook into the 2nd chain from hook)
Row 3: 1 sl st, increase (2 sc in one ch of previous row), 1 sc, increase (2 sc in the last ch of previous row), turn
Row 4: 1 sl st, 5 sc in each chain across, turn
Row 5: 1 sl st, increase in the 1st chain, increase in the last chain (total 7 sc), turn
Row 6: 1 sl st, 7 sc in each chain across, turn
Row7: 1 sl st, increase in the 1st chain, increase in the last chain (total 9 sc), turn
Row 8: 1 sl st, 9 sc in each chain across, turn
Row 9: 1 sl st, 9 sc in each chain across, turn
Row 10: 1 sl st, increase in the 1st chain, increase in the last chain (total 11 sc), turn

Row 11: 1 sl st, 11 sc in each chain across, turn
Row 12: 1 sl st, 11 sc in each chain across, turn
Row 13: 1 sl st, 11 sc in each chain across, turn
Row 14: 1 sl st, increase in the 1st chain, increase in the last chain (total 13 sc), turn
Row 15: 1 sl st, 13 sc in each chain across, turn
Row 16: 1 sl st, 13 sc in each chain across, turn
Row 17: 1 sl st, increase in the 1st chain, increase in the last chain (total 15 sc), turn
Row 18: 1 sl st, 15 sc in each chain across, turn
Row 19: 1 sl st, 15 sc in each chain across, turn
Row 20: 1 sl st, 15 sc in each chain across, turn
Row 21: 1 sl st, 15 sc in each chain across, turn
Row 22: 1 sl st, increase in the 1st chain, increase in the last chain (total 17 sc), turn
Row 23: 1 sl st, 17 sc in each chain across, turn
Row 24: 1 sl st, 17 sc in each chain across, turn

Now you start to make the sides of the heart

Row 25: 1 sl st, 9 sc in 9 chains across, turn
Row 26: sl st, 9 sc in each chain across, turn
Row 27: 1 sl st, decrease in the beginning, decrease in the end (total 7 sc), turn
Row 28: 1 sl st, 7 sc in each chain across, turn
Row 29: 1 sl st, decrease in the beginning, decrease in the end (total 5 sc), turn
Row 30: 1 sl st, decrease in the beginning, decrease in the end (total 3 sc), turn
Fasten off.

Now you will be making the 2nd side of the heart.

Add your thread in the next chain from the beginning of the 1-st side.

- - 7 sc across each chain, increase in the last chain (total 9 sc), turn
- - 1 sl st, 9 sc in each chain across, turn
- - 1 sl st, decrease in the beginning, decrease in the end (total 7 sc), turn
- - 1 sl st, 7 sc in each chain across, turn
- - 1 sl st, decrease in the beginning, decrease in the end (total 5 sc), turn
- - 1 sl st, decrease in the beginning, decrease in the end (total 3 sc), turn
Fasten off.

Now you can make another heart and crochet them together. Fill with some stuffing and embellish.

Happy Valentine!
